Tingsryds Orkesterförening was founded in 1979 and has since always had the purpose of spreading musical culture and making room for musicians in Tingsryd and the surrounding area to create and perform music, especially in local contexts. When the orchestra performs in public, the name Tingsryds Sinfonietta is used, although the crew may vary widely in different periods. The basic crew is however strings (violin 1, violin 2, viola / alto violin, cello), flute, clarinet, piano / cembalo. Other wind instruments (sometimes hired) plus double bass and percussion are welcome as well as other instruments, even if it demands new arrangements. We only see this as inspirational and are a prerequisite for our development – to use musicians who are in the local music community. Song soloists are warmly welcome to collaborate with Tingsryd’s Sinfonietta and then proposely for project periods of two months at a time. Warmly welcome to us!
Read the article about the cooperation with our Finnish friend-town Keuruu:
The chamber orchestra from Tingsryd is in front of both old and new music – Renaissance music, folk music, specially arranged pop music and modern art has a place in the repertoire.
The orchestra rehearsals are normally on Mondays at 7 – 8.30 pm in the church of Tingsås, Tingsryd.
